Davidson County is located in the middle of the state in an area known as the Piedmont Triad. The county has a total area of 567 square miles and is boarded by Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph and Rowan Counties. The estimated population in 2004 was 153,775. Soon after its formation in 1822, the town of Lexington became the county seat for Davidson County. Today the other incorporated areas are Denton, Midway, Thomasville and Wallburg.

Like so many North Carolina towns, Lexington has become popular for those seeking the good life of a small town while remaining close to the amenities of a larger city.
