Davidson County is located in the middle of the state in an area known as the Piedmont Triad. The county has a total area of 567 square miles and is boarded by Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph and Rowan Counties. The estimated population in 2007 was 156,530. Soon after its formation in 1822, the town of Lexington became the county seat for Davidson County. Today the other incorporated areas are Denton, Midway, Thomasville and Wallburg.
Like so many North Carolina towns, Lexington has become popular for those seeking the good life of a small town while remaining close to the amenities of a larger city.
The town of Lexington, with its central geographic location in the Piedmont Triad offer many amenities to the relocating family. Affordable real estate and more house for the mo
ney are also popular reasons why many newcomers are relocating here. With easy access to the larger towns of High Point, Winston-Salem and Greensboro, residents of Davidson County find that they can enjoy the amenities of the three nearby cities while enjoying the quiet comfort of living in an independent small town.
Lexington is a growing place with beautiful new homes being built and new businesses moving into our community. Officials report that incentives such as our low tax base, proximity to interstates and plenty of undeveloped land and a trained work force have enticed new industries to our county.
